KEIL SPACE – The Art of Shaping Bronze: An Immersive Experience

At Keil Space – an artistic site in the cradle of the Renaissance – art is more than observation: it becomes participation. Here, the experience is immersive and transformative, engaging emotions, feelings, and intellect. The viewer does not simply see the work but enters into dialogue with it.

In an era defined by speed and constant acceleration, Keil Space positions itself as a rare environment of stillness and reflection. Conceived as a space where time appears to decelerate, it invites a slower and more conscious engagement with art. Within this suspended atmosphere, the artistic experience becomes both contemplative and deeply personal.

In conversation with CEO and co-founder Mohamed Ogbi, let us delve into the cathartic world of Advanced Art.

How did the original idea of Keil Space take shape?

Keil Space was born from a clear and uncompromising vision: to establish the first institution in the 21st century entirely dedicated to Advanced Art.

From the beginning, I understood that the work of Samantha Keil (the artist behind this project, n.d.r.) did not belong within conventional artistic categories. Her practice extends beyond sculpture as an aesthetic object. It operates at the intersection of art, science, perception, material research, philosophy and human consciousness.

This is what we define as Advanced Art. It is not a style; it is a research-driven artistic discipline that integrates geometry, physics, neuroscience, and philosophy into artistic form. It seeks not only to represent reality, but to transform the way reality is perceived and experienced. It engages the viewer cognitively, emotionally and sensorially. It moves from object to application.

Samantha Keil is one of the last remaining Advanced Artists working today with this level of rigour, coherence and interdisciplinary depth. Her forty-year dedication to merging art with scientific and philosophical inquiry places her in a rare and almost disappearing lineage. Keil Space was therefore conceived as a necessary structure — not simply a gallery but an institutional platform capable of protecting, contextualising and advancing her work within its true intellectual dimension.

We are not exhibiting art. We are developing a field.

How has the project evolved from its earliest intuitions to what it is today?

Initially, the vision was to create a space where Samantha’s work could exist without compromise — free from the superficial mechanisms of the contemporary art market. Over time, Keil Space evolved into a research-based institution that integrates collaborations with universities, cultural organisations, cognitive scientists and professionals in neuroaesthetics and psychology. These developments align directly with the principles of Advanced Art: art as applied knowledge.

The space became intersensory by design. Light, acoustics, spatial flow and material presence are structured to support the perceptual and cognitive impact of the sculptures. What began as a vision to support one artist evolved into the first structured environment dedicated to Advanced Art as a transformative discipline.

What led you to establish Keil Space in Italy, and more specifically in Florence—a city so deeply rooted in artistic and intellectual tradition?

Florence is not merely strategic: it is deeply personal. Samantha and I have lived here for more than ten years. The city has shaped our daily rhythm, our thinking, and our creative atmosphere. We both hold profound respect for its heritage.

Florence represents intellectual courage. It represents the Renaissance — a time when art, science, philosophy, and technique were inseparable. That interdisciplinary spirit resonates completely with Advanced Art.

Establishing Keil Space here was a statement of continuity. We see ourselves as engaging in dialogue with a city that understands rigour and research. Florence gives historical depth to our mission, and in return, Keil Space contributes a contemporary evolution of that Renaissance spirit.

The immersive nature of Keil Space engages multiple senses at once, evoking the phenomenon of synaesthesia. Is this connection intentional, and how does sensory crossover inform your work?

The therapeutic effect is not imposed, it is a direct result. When a work is created with that level of purity, it transmits balance.

The immersive design of Keil Space supports this, but it does not create it. Samantha’s work is the catalyst. Visitors frequently report feeling calmer, more centred, more connected to themselves after experiencing the sculptures. This is not branding; it is the natural outcome of encountering work that is structurally honest and perceptually refined.

Bronze is a defining material in the art of Keil Space. What symbolic or conceptual significance does this material hold for you?

Bronze embodies continuity and transformation. It connects humanity to ancient civilisations while remaining alive in contemporary investigation.

Samantha approaches bronze not as a traditional medium, but as a field of research — exploring density, light absorption, geometry and tactile response. Through discipline and elimination, she transforms this ancient material into a vehicle for introspection. The result is not only aesthetic experience — it is perceptual recalibration.

The project often refers to the idea of artistic purity. How do you define this concept in the context of your work?

We define artistic purity as coherence between intention, research, gesture and material. It is the refusal of excess. It is intellectual honesty and devotion to truth within the creative act.

Samantha’s purity is precisely what generates the therapeutic resonance people experience. Balance creates balance. Integrity invites integrity. That is why her work functions as a catalyst for self-connection.

Looking ahead, how do you envision the future of Keil Space—and your own creative journey?

Keil Space will continue to expand as the first institutional model dedicated to Advanced Art and its applications. We aim to deepen collaborations with research institutions, universities and therapeutic environments where Advanced Art can be integrated into education, cognitive development and well-being programmes.

Our ambition is not commercial expansion for its own sake. It is the structured evolution of a field. Samantha Keil represents one of the last living embodiments of Advanced Art practiced with full rigour and interdisciplinary commitment. My responsibility as founder and creative leader is to ensure that her legacy is preserved, contextualised, and expanded within its rightful intellectual framework.
